Rarepair New Year 2025

Memes and Prompts

Rarepair New Year is offering two new features this year: the Rarepair New Year Ship Meme, and the Event Collection Prompt Exchange.

Rarepair New Year Ship Meme

The Rarepair New Year Ship Meme is a fun, no-string meme created for celebrating Rarepair New Year. It does not require that the user be an Official Event Participant, nor that their selection of Ship even be an Event-Certified Rarepair. It can be filled out even outside of the Event's timeframe, if it suites you.

Anyone can use it and have fun with it! That being said, we do encourage users to do so in the spirit of Rarepair New Year.

Event Collection Prompt Exchange

The Prompt Exchange is only available to Official Event Participants, as it is operated out of the Rarepair New Year AO3 Collection. However, the Prompt Exchange is not intrinically linked to the Raffle, and is not constricted by the same rules.

Official Event Participants may submit prompts throughout the month of and well into . Prompts may be for fic or art, but all submissions must be mirrored on AO3 in the Collection. (If you're unsure how to mirror art on AO3, you can ask for help in the Offical Event Discord).

Participants may claim the prompts submitted by other participants to fulfill them as they please. As such, there is no guarantee that any prompts might be fulfilled.

A participant may also submit their Prompt Exchanges to the Official Event Raffle, if the end result of the prompt fulfills all the standard requirements for a Raffle submission. That being said, a Prompt Exchange does not have to meet those requirements, as they, again, are not intrinsically linked to the Raffle itself.

While we encourage our participants to submit and fulfill prompts in the spirit of celebrating rarepairs, metrics will not be measured on prompts unless and until they are submitted to the Raffle as well.

How It Works

Once you are added to the Official Event AO3 Collection, you will be able to "Sign-Up" from the Collection Profile Page.

Your Sign-Up is functionally a list of Prompts that you want to give to others. You will be shown a form to fill out, with a number of fields which may be left empty if they are not marked as mandatory. By filling out both the tags you want to apply to the work, as well as describing what you want in laymen in the Description Box, you give other participants a 'prompt' that they can then 'claim' and submit a work for!

You can fill out as many prompts to give out in your Sign-Up as the site will allow (there will be a built-in cap).

Once you have finished your own Sign-Up, you will have access to the list of prompts submitted by other participants. If you find a prompt you like, you can then "claim" it and submit a work that meets the criteria as outlined by the prompter.
