Someone asked:

What is this event about?

RNY Icon

Rarepair New Year's Answer:

This event is primarily about enjoying Rarepairs. That is why the theme is Rarepairs!

But it is also a fun little way to share Kamari333's love of Tags! That is why the Raffle rules have so much to do with tags!

Someone asked:

Is this an Undertale/UTMV only Event? Or can we do other fandoms?

RNY Icon

Rarepair New Year's Answer:

Past years have been open to all fandoms, but this year the event is downsizing to focus just on Undertale.

Someone asked:

Does that mean I can submit my Deltarune rarepairs too?

RNY Icon

Rarepair New Year's Answer:

No!

Only characters which are canonical to Undertale (re: make canonical appearances in the playable game, complete with some form of attributable spritework) count as Undertale characters. Further, only their Undertale interpretations count when applied towards a ship (so Deltarune Sans does not count as an Undertale character, but Undertale Sans does).

Someone asked:

What about crossovers?

RNY Icon

Rarepair New Year's Answer:

As long as 1 (one) character is an Undertale character, the ship counts!

Someone asked:

What about AUs? (Alternate Universes??)

RNY Icon

Rarepair New Year's Answer:

As long as it is a fan-made Undertale AU (an AU derived from the game Undertale by Toby Fox, made by someone who is neither Toby Fox nor endorsed by him), it is allowed!

Undertale AUs are not only allowed, but encouraged <3

Someone asked:

What about my own AU(s)?

RNY Icon

Rarepair New Year's Answer:

As long as you have a unique name, tag, and premise for the AU, it counts!

Someone asked:

What about OCs?

RNY Icon

Rarepair New Year's Answer:

As long as one of the characters in the ship is an Undertale Character (or AU of an Undertale Character), you can plead your case to the Committee (event coordinators checking the vibes of the rarepairs in edge cases like this). This will be on a case-by-case basis.

Someone asked:

What about self-inserts or xReaders?

RNY Icon

Rarepair New Year's Answer:

These will not qualify: this kind of ship is out of scope for this particular event. Sorry, guys (we love and support you though).

Someone asked:

When does the Event take place? What does the time table look like?

RNY Icon

Rarepair New Year's Answer:

See the Timeline for details.

Someone asked:

I joined the event server last year, and am still in it. Do I have to sign up again?

RNY Icon

Rarepair New Year's Answer:

Yes!

The Event Discord is set up so that, after the end of an event season, all Event Coordinators and Participants are marked as Alumni for that year. This Discord Role will allow them to have access to that year's archived channels, even if we readjust or change the arrangement of the server.

Further, not all Alumni have a desire to participate again, so participation is completely Opt-In by means of registration.

This also allows participants to clarify which Registered Social Media they want to use for the Event this year -- Moderators have to check Social Media and AO3 for event submissions, but we also want to respect the boundaries and privacy of our participants. When participants register their Social Media and AO3 accounts in their registration intro, that is their explicit consent for us mods to look at, monitor, and interact with those accounts for the duration of the event. Further, the discord account used to make that registration is also marked as part of that consent for the purposes of messaging the Participant about Event things (like their submissions, their ticket count, and prizes if applicable).

Someone asked:

There is someone in the Event Server that I am uncomfortable with. Do I need to interact with them?

RNY Icon

Rarepair New Year's Answer:

The only person you MUST be comfortable interacting with for the event is the host, Kamari333. You should also, logically, be prepared to interact with the volunteer you want to win a prize from. Prize volunteers who do not interest you, as well as any and all other participants, are completely optional.

We are also willing to accommodate moderation needs if you tell Kamari333 in advance.

Someone asked:

I am still not comfortable being in the server. Can I still participate or volunteer?

RNY Icon

Rarepair New Year's Answer:

No.

Event participation requires the Participant or Volunteer to be in and register for the Event in the Event server. They must also remain in the server for the duration of the event, up to and including the Raffle draw.

Leaving the server will de-register the Participant, withdraw any Volunteer Prize donations, and void any current or pending Alumni status. If you win a prize and leave before verifying you have received that prize, you will not be entitled to any consolation prizes that might be offered for delivery delays or inconveniences.

(If you leave on accident or something and come back quickly, we can get you set up again, though.)

Basically, the server is how we keep track of who is active in the event. It is the main hub for communication for event activities. Not being in the server is to not be in the Official Event.

Someone asked:

If I have other questions, how can I ask them?

RNY Icon

Rarepair New Year's Answer:

You can try to contact the Event Coordinators on any of the Event Social Medias:

Your best bet, though, is to contact the Event Host, Kamari333, directly. You can reach them on their Primary Social Medias:

If you are in the Official Event Discord, you can also inquire directly there as well, either in the server or though private messaging.
